His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

"I always bow to the Guru who is bliss incarnate, who bestows happiness, whose face is radiant with joy. His essential nature is knowledge. He is aware of his true self. He is the Lord of yogis, he is adorable, he is the physician who cures the disease of birth and death."

S'rî Guru Gita—verse 93.

For any spiritual teaching to be successful one needs to obtain the guidance, protection and grace from the Guru. The Guru is a teacher, guide, mentor and much more. The scriptures declare that the Guru is God and God is the Guru, i.e., the true Guru is always one who is in Brahman Consciousness.

In order to gain all benefits from the Divine contact with the Guru one has to be a proper adhikari, a qualified aspirant. The disciple should be humble, sincere, pure in body and mind with a strong faith in God and the Guru. One surrenders to the Guru's will and instructions out of love.

Service to the Guru is necessary in order that your heart may literally reflect the Guru’s teachings, so that from there on you are one. It is the most sacred and beautiful relationship in which there is no relationship, you are one. In oneness there is no relationship. Oneness is not called a relationship, and only when that oneness has taken place does the other person become your Guru, not until then.

The Masters all say: "When the disciple is ready, the Guru appears." One has to make oneself an adhikari by living life with a pure heart and pure intentions. Your Guru will come into your life at the right time.

Guru Dev means Teacher of all that is Divine. It is a title by which an individual refers to the one in Brahman Consciousness who has accepted responsibility for his or her life. Every person who is on the path of Brahman Consciousness, and everyone who has arrived at the goal has a relationship with Guru Dev.

The Holy Tradition of the Guru Dev Master-disciple relationship extends from moden times to the feet of the Supreme Being of this universe, Lord Narayana. The Guru must be a disciple of one who is part of a succession of spiritual masters coming from Lord Narayana Himself. A Guru's teachings cannot be genuine unless he has received his knowledge by this process of disciplic succession, because one who is not part of a genuine disciplic chain can have no access to the Vedic knowledge. No matter how learned a scholar may be, he cannot understand Vedic knowledge by the speculation - true knowledge is passed from Guru to disciple, heart to heart.

In every age there are those on earth who are in Brahman Consciousness and willing to take the responsibility to guide those sincere lovers of God who wish to devote their eternity to Divine service to humanity.

His Divinity Swami Brahmananda Sarasvati

Such a one is His Divinity Swami Brahmananda Sarasvati who Ascended back to Brahma Loka in 1954. A direct incarnation of Lord Brahma Himself, He was born Rajaram on December 20, 1868, he renounced worldly life at the age of nine and began to seek his Guru Dev. After five years of wandering in the Himalayas he met and surrendered to His Holiness Swami Krishananda Sarasvati. He spent 50 years in silence in the deep forrests of central India, during which time was cultivated a personality that could bestow enlightenment by the mere flash of his presence. He accepted the seat of Shankaracharya of Jyotir Math in 1941 at the age of 72. . A few years later, He conducted a huge yajña with 10,000 pundits to end World War II, and later the political freedom of India dawned under his grace.

In a rare wire recording of Swami Brahmananda Sarasvati, he says that it is easy for the mind to reach the paramatma (that which is beyond the Atman) but the experience cannot be expressed. He gives the example of a statue made of salt. You can put it in the sea and it will go deep down into the water without any difficulty. It will melt in the sea. If you ask the statue to say anything about the sea (the experience) like how deep it was, etc. it is very difficult! Like that the mind experiences the paramatma and becomes immersed in it. It cannot speak about the experience of becoming the paramatma. If it can then it has not really experienced it. Here is that recording:

By the Grace of His Divinity Swami Brahmananda Sarasvati, we are fortunate to have on earth his enlightened disciple and our Guru Dev, His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Maharishi's achievements in the service of his Guru for the creation of heaven on earth over the past 50 years remind us of the greatness of S'rî Adi Shankara himself. Here is a brief summary of these achievements:
